In addition to study-related additional needs, costs may also arise as a result of impairments that are not covered by BAföG.
Under certain conditions, these non-education-related additional needs can be applied for at the Jobcenter (SGB II) or at the Office for Social Affairs (SGB XII) of the district of residence.
Students who are temporarily or permanently incapacitated for work apply to the Social Welfare Office for the additional requirements.
In all other cases, the Jobcenter is the responsible authority.
