The on-site operations of the UdK are still restricted. Essential art spaces - studios, workshops and exhibition spaces - were not accessible until recently. How will the students work? Where will they work? Home office of the arts? Home vernissage? Suddenly the virtual space gained attention. Meet you on Jitsi? Or should we take a break? How's the art doing?
With a new experiment the class Neugebauer wants to reflect the experience of virtual space. Both a physical and a digital exhibition will be presented. These connect with each other through their visitors. However, the digital exhibition can only be experienced if a person is also present in the real space. This person acts as a key and as a carrier. The more people there are on site, the more perspectives will be available.
We challenge the measures and restrictions of the new everyday life and address the new public with an exhibition on the topic of defence mechanisms. This term, coined by psychoanalysis, includes strategies such as repression, denial, avoidance, introjection or projection. However, mechanisms of defence also exist in the political, biological, medical, interpersonal and other fields. To defend against what? And what does the mechanism look like? We have put 20 thoughts in the room.
