Reading Academic Texts
Approaching a text step by step
Reading is an important and challenging part of any academic writing project. After all, the texts we read help us form the arguments in our papers. Information overload and long, complicated texts make this process especially challenging.
But not everything you find is suitable for detailed reading. It not only matters ‘what’ you read but also ‘how’ you read it.
In this workshop, you will learn which pitfalls there are when it comes to reading academic texts and how you can avoid them in order to read texts more efficiently – and possibly save yourself a lot of time and stress.
You will also be guided through a step-by-step approach which you can use before, during, and after reading. Have a text ready to practice during this workshop – ideally one you will use in your current or upcoming writing project.
