Book Club

Women in society: ‘The Invitation’ by Emma Cline

"Summer in the Hamptons is coming to an end and Alex is no longer welcome. Because no matter how close she has come to the world of the rich and beautiful, she is only a guest - and no invitation lasts forever. An abysmal, highly topical story about dependency and power, manipulation and crossing boundaries, and about the many roles we play in life."

Emma Cline's novel fits in with the theme of ‘Women in Society’, which is also the focus of the book club. In a total of two sessions, we will each look at a novel that revolves around this theme and create a place for exchanging literature together. We will talk about the reading material in a cosy atmosphere. We share, compare and discuss perspectives on the content of the reading as well as its literary quality.

The novel should be read independently before the session.
The book club only consists of this one session. The originally planned second session unfortunately has to be cancelled due to illness. The course language is German. Weather permitting, the course will take place outside.

A binding registration for the event is only possible for students of our partner universities. By participating, you agree to our conditions of participation.
