CANCELED: Empowerment for BIPoC: Spoken Word Workshop
On the tracks of resistance against racism
Whether it was the economy, education, culture or language: colonial rule was characterised by the violent restructuring of virtually all areas of life. But resistance to it is as old as European expansion itself. The project "On the trail of resistance against racism" focusses on stories of anti-colonial resistance in Cameroon and conveys the diversity of strategies and struggles against anti-black racism.
During the two-day empowerment workshop, participants will reflect on their own role models and develop new strategies of resistance against persistent colonial and racist world views and practices. Using creative writing and performance exercises, they will develop their own spoken word.
The event will take place on 1 December and 8 December from 14:30 to 18:30.The workshops are in German.
BIPoC is an acronym for Black People, Indigenous People and People of Colour. These are political self-designations of people who are racialised in white-dominated contexts, i.e. who experience racist discrimination.
The terms do not refer to biological conditions, but to social constructions. In other words, they stand for the creation of (non-)belonging and privileges and designate specific and complex (exclusionary) experiences in society.
