Das Runde muss ins Eckige: Fußball und Popkultur [in German]

Football culture didn't just make it from the stands of crowded stadiums into rap lyrics or onto catwalks during the European Championships. What is behind the phenomenon of ‘football and pop’?

Why are more and more young people being drawn to smoky football pubs? How can the language of sports journalism inspire us to write our own texts? We want to explore different sides of the myth of football culture on 4 dates.

At a Hertha BSC home game, we will use our own language to confront the stadium phenomenon. However, it will also be about the other side of football. Pop culture is taken up, reinterpreted and reinvented. The queer rapper Ebow, for example, created an entire album and tour under the title ‘FC Chaya’. Football itself, however, remains a less inclusive place. We talk to the initiators of Hertha's awareness team and find out more about the challenges surrounding the sport. The Hertha ticket is included in the €21 participation fee.

It is possible to publish texts in your own format in the Football Week. We look forward to a creative exchange with the football media. The workshop will also produce some great social media content.

Whether you're interested in football or pop culture, this workshop is for all writers and those who want to become one.
