Vernissage: Noch ganz dicht

Group exhibition of students from the Berlin University of the Arts

Painting, drawing, sculpture, video and installation come together in an intense interplay. The works explore disruption and deformation: figures expand, bodies inflate, proportions tip into the absurd. Everyday scenes disintegrate into fragmented, chaotic structures. Beings merge, dissolve, are elevated, concealed or shifted - and form new, amorphous shapes. The space itself becomes part of this confrontation. Light and shadow, scale and materiality condense into an irritating atmosphere that makes us aware of the unease that exists between the city, the body and perception. The city is a field of tension made up of opposites - narrowness and expanse, visibility and concealment, order and chaos. In these interstices, the uncontrolled pushes outwards - as swelling, distortion or dissolution.
