PREMIERE: Where to go, Aida?

Performative opera exhibition based on Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Aida"

Aida is on the run. At the end of Verdi's opera, she no longer has a choice: without a home, freedom or any options for action, all she has left is death. What if we were faced with the choice that Aida did not have?

"Aida" is one of Giuseppe Verdi's most famous operas, indeed one of the most famous Italian operas of all. In it, three young people in different social positions live in a totalitarian state that is at eternal war with its neighboring country. All three are looking for a way to deal with and escape this situation. But as they gradually realize, their situation is and remains hopeless - not least because each of them is fighting for himself. Students from the Hanns Eisler School of Music, the Berlin University of the Arts and other Berlin art academies are creating an immersive musical theater evening with arranged and newly composed music based on the opera using central themes from "Aida" that are often lost in conventional productions.

Trigger warning: The event deals with war and physical violence. Part of the event is a performance that constricts the audience which could cause discomfort or fear in people with claustrophobia.
