Exhibition - Verträumt

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the student art association artburst berlin e.V. is looking both to the future and to the past.

In the first part of the anniversary series, the association is devoting itself to the topic of dreams in their utopian as well as dystopian dimension with the exhibition "Verträumt".

We process our reality in dreams. Whether individually or collectively, dreams can be mere escapes from reality, but they also always have the potential to bring forth something new. Thus, a dream can also bring groups together to jointly develop alternatives to the present reality. A utopia can thus release forces to get along with the present, to imagine a "fairer" future and to fight for it. But what is a utopia for some already becomes a dystopia for others. This perspective depends on our social position. But what influences our dreams? How do dreams turn into reality? And when does a utopia become a dystopia?

These questions are addressed by artburst berlin together with the artists Yewon Seo, Nora Awad, Maja Zagorska, Marie Salcedo Horn, Antonia Leicht, Isabella Palacios, Suah Im and Emilie Rosati.

The exhibition will be complemented by a supporting programme.
