Guided tour of the Documentation Centre Berlin

What does it mean to lose your home or homeland?

We invite you to a special 90-minute guided tour! Join us to explore narratives of displacement and resilience.

Through installations, testimonies, and exhibits, you’ll gain insight into the causes and consequences of forced migration and engage in discussions on social, historical, and ethical issues. What leads to forced migration? What does it mean to lose your home or homeland? You will explore instances of large-scale displacement and expulsion in 20th-century Europe, focusing particularly on the 14 million Germans who experienced this during or after the Second World War. With the help of the Permanent Exhibition, you will witness what it means to leave everything behind and start over far from home.

Rather than a monologue-style guided tour, you are encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussions on the topics presented.

What to expect:

• Guided tour with Q&A
• Interactive discussions on displacement and reconciliation
• First-hand accounts and historical exhibits

Registration: Limited to 15 participants. A waiting list is available.
