Wendo is a feminist concept within the context of self-defense and self-assertion. It is about defending yourself against violence, oppression and boundary violations and standing up for yourself. The course will focus on your experiences and adventures and you will teach different techniques and exchange ideas.
The Wendo workshops are part of the FLINTA* empowerment series and are therefore open to FLINTA* people. Wendo works a lot with the terms and content of "female socialization" as well as "women" and "girls". If these are terms and constructs that are or feel inappropriate for you, we would recommend other parts of the FLINTA* series. Feel free to write to us if you have any questions (kultur [at] stw.berlin). If you are interested in an empowerment workshop specifically for non-binary, inter-, agender and trans people, you are also welcome toreach out to us.
The two coaches, Patty Rams and Leonie Krügener, are part of the Wendo Bande - Berlin Brandenburg (wendo-bb.de) and have completed their professional Wendo training according to the training guidelines of BV FeSt e.V. (Federal Association for Feminist Self-Assertion and Self-Defence).
FLINTA* stands for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people - in other words, for all those who are discriminated against because of their gender identity. Find out more here. With the FLINTA* empowerment series, we want to offer a place for exchange and a safer space. All people who feel they belong are welcome! It is also important for us to point out that you cannot look at someone's gender. We particularly encourage TIN people to take part in our events or to lead them as speakers.
If you are coming to the event in a wheelchair or have limited mobility, please send an email to kultur@stw.berlin before the event or call us at +49 171 7936994. Access is not always barrier-free, as our elevator unfortunately breaks down regularly.
