Elisabeth Pape

Schreiben hilft/ Writing is helpful for FLINTA* [Only in German]

Meet yourself in writing. Weekly workshop with Elisabeth Pape.

In the workshop for FLINTA* people, which takes place in the summer semester 2025, we meet ourselves in writing. In various writing impulses, we will sensitise our own perception and create the space to address topics that tend to get lost in everyday life. One focus will be on our mental health. You will be encouraged to pause and establish writing as a support. Or to have the space to engage in self-reflection at regular intervals. It doesn't matter whether you have writing experience or not - the main thing is that you feel like meeting yourself and others through writing and that you have no inhibitions about tackling difficult topics relating to mental health.

Important! This is not a creative writing workshop! The space is there to meet yourself, to counteract isolation and to create a safe space within a fixed group.

  • Schreiben Hilft has 9 course units: 24.04., 30.04. (Attention Wednesday!), 15.05., 22.05.,28.05. (Attention Wednesday!), 05.06., 12.06., 19.06.
  • There will be a reading between 23rd and 25th June.
  • Some sessions will be cancelled due to public holidays. Details will be discussed at the beginning of the course.
  • The course will probably take place on a few hybrid dates, but Elisabeth will try to organise most of the dates in person.
  • We reserve the right to make changes!

Elisabeth Pape, born in 1995, daughter of a Ukrainian immigrant, studied theatre and literature at the Freie Universität Berlin and then scenic writing at the Berlin Universität der Künste. She was awarded the Kleist Preis 2023 and received the Leonhard Frank Scholarship 2023, which is awarded by the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. Her plays have premiered at the Staatstheater Augsburg, Theater Koblenz and Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, among others. Her debut novel Halbe Portion will be published by Suhrkamp Verlag in October 2025. It is a very personal story about eating disorders, growing up in poverty and the constraints that come with it.

Important: Elisabeth Pape is not a trained writing therapist, but has completed training in counselling for children and young people, is an author herself and dedicates many of her texts to mental health. Nevertheless, she mainly brings impulses from writing therapy with her.

About the event series: FLINTA* stands for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people - in other words, for all those who are discriminated against because of their gender identity. Find out more here. With the FLINTA* empowerment series, we want to offer a place of exchange and a safer space. All people who feel they belong are welcome! It is also important for us to point out that you can't look at anyone's gender.
